I have a PhD in Social and Ecological Sustainability by the University of Waterloo. My research has focused on promoting electrical energy systems that make broad contributions to meeting climate change and sustainability goals. To pursue my doctoral studies, I was awarded with the National Scholarship on Energy Sustainability by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and the Energy Secretariat (SENER) of Mexico. I have a Master in Business Administration (honors) and a BSc in Tourism Management, both by Universidad de Occidente in Mazatlan, Mexico. I have presented my work at conferences, guest lectures, and panels in English and Spanish at multiple international venues. My interests include sports (especially basketball) and music performance, composition, and production.
Why did you join ESAC?
I joined ESAC in 2023 after learning from board members about the efforts that the association has made to mobilize environmental research in Canada. Being part of ESAC is an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary and diverse team of academics and professionals committed to promote more prosperous human-environmental interactions. In a time of pressing environmental challenges that require collaborative efforts, ESAC is a venue that facilitates building connections with researchers from different backgrounds and learning more about innovative and integrative solutions from multiple disciplines. As a member, I am looking forward to helping expand the association’s outreach and build partnerships with Spanish-speaking research communities.
